Welcome!! Today in the United States alone, there are more than 1.3 million American citizens that serve in our armed forces. That is less than 1 percent of the approximated population of 301.7 million people that reside in the United States of America. Among the 1.3 million the average age of an enlisted military member is 19-22 years of age, they have seen war, watched their comrades fall in battle and have done things in their lives that most cannot even begin to comprehend, and it is all before most are even allowed to legally drink. It's so much more than just a Uniform...It's a way of life. Being a part of or being involved with the military can be very different than a life of being a civilian. Things have the risk of changing in an instant, from deployments and TDY's to moves with restationing. For single military members all of this doesn't present much of an issue, there is nothing really that is to worry about since there isnt anyone but themselves. However, that isnt the case when there is others involved, such as a family or any type of military relationship, that is where the challanges may rise. Supporting the troops means supporting those who stand behind them too, be it the wives that carry on a house and maybe a family on their own in the absence of the husband, how she composes herself when a child asks "Where's dad" steeling herself not to cry to the mothers and fathers that see their child off, praying that they get that phone call from them saying they are alright... all the way down to the brothers, sisters, moms and dads... and we shall not forget the most over looked part of all this, the military girlfriends... Can you challenge yourself to remember not only those who fight for our freedom, but those who stand behind them? Can you bring yourself to recognize and understand the strength and hardships they take on? Can you know that the smallest thing you could do, would make a world of difference to them? Here is somewhere one can start working on that challenge.
